For years now we’ve held daily drawings for free T-shirts bearing a variety of Terry C. Johnston bookcovers heat-transferred on the front. So many people have written asking to purchase these shirts that we have finally decided to offer them to our readers in general. Because we won’t carry an inventory of these shirts, but will instead have them custom made at the time of your order by our tour T-shirt supplier (who has a minimum order requirement), we ask your patience while your order could take six to eight weeks to get to you.
These heat-transfer images come on a light-colored 50% preshrunk cotton T-shirt with a faint peppercorn pattern throughout the fabric, which makes for a very attractive background for the bold colors of the bookcovers.
When ordering, be sure to specify which book title (or titles) you want, in addition to the size of T-shirt. $20.00 each for all sizes up to and including XL. $22.00 for XXL. And $24.00 for XXXL. All prices include handling and shipping. Please make your checks payable to: Terry C. Johnston’s West and mail to: Terry C. Johnston's West PO Box 50594 Billings, MT 59105.
Two styles of souvenir hats, both are embroidered on the front with our buffalo skull logo in addition to a crescent over the bull’s horn tips which reads: Terry C. Johnston’s West in the same color as the ballcap brim. On the back of the ballcap style, also in a crescent, are the words: A Novelist’s Journey Into the Indian Wars.
The full-brim (or fisherman’s style) hat has the embroidery only on the front, none on the back. Please be sure to give us your choice of size on this hat: S, M, L. These are priced at $21.00 (postage and handling included).
Fully adjustable ballcaps are available in khaki with a faded blue brim; khaki with a navy-blue underbrim; and ivory with a choice of either cardinal red, emerald green, or royal blue brims.
Any of these style hats are priced at $19.00 (postage and handling included). Please make your checks payable to: Terry C. Johnston’s West and mail to: Terry C. Johnston's West PO Box 50594 Billings, MT 59105.
Between the summer of 1976 and late winter of 1977, John Musick, an old friend from my Colorado buckskinning days who recently died, was the first person to read the manuscript of what would one day become my first novel, Carry the Wind. Like Jack Hatcher (the character I fashioned after John himself) and Titus Bass did some one-hundred-seventy years ago, John and I camped and caroused together at rendezvous both summer and winter, spending untold hours around campfires talking about the raw story I was stitching together.
In the summer of ‘77 John brought his family north to Big Timber, Montana for a brief vacation. Not only did we do some fishing in the Boulder River, but I hiked him back into the area where Scratch and Asa McAfferty had their final showdown at the climax of Carry the Wind. When we had returned to Big Timber at the end of that long summer day, John presented me with two original pen-and-ink drawings he had completed late that spring.
One print is of Scratch himself, with Ol’ Hannah, his mule -- which John and I promptly titled "Bound for the Yellowstone!" And the second one was clearly none other than "Mad Jack Hatcher" his own self, stomping and strutting as he played his fiddle at rendezvous!
About eight years ago I had these two drawings enlarged to poster-size so that I could use them as presentation gifts to book buyers with the wholesale distribution agencies who had helped put my books on the map. Both images are in a dark-brown ink printed a light-buff colored heavy poster stock measuring 22" X 28". "Bound for the Yellowstone" has an image size of 17" X 22", and "Mad Jack Hatcher" has an image size of 15" X 22".
After distributing these posters, I found out I was left with a limited supply I would just as soon see hanging on a wall in your home! I’ll send them to you in a heavy-duty cardboard mailing tube, charging only what it takes to recover the original costs of printing, along with the costs of the mailing tube and first-class postage to get them shipped to you.
$17.31 will cover the costs of one poster, and I can ship you the second poster in the same tube for an additional $12.85 -- for a total of $30.16 postage paid for both!
If you are ordering only one of the posters, be sure to tell us which of the two you want us to ship. Please make your checks out to Terry C. Johnston’s West and mail to: Terry C. Johnston's West PO Box 50594 Billings, MT 59105.
I’ll continue to offer these posters on our web-site while they last. Those who order will own a real collectible: two characters from my very first novel, drawn by my old friend, the incomparably-talented John Musick, a full five years before Carry the Wind was published!
