Visitation Hours & Season

Chief Plenty Coups State Park is a Seasonal operation due to winter weather and limited funding.
Off season appointments are welcome, please call (406) 252-1289.

Park season: May 1 through September 30

Park hours: 8 AM to 8 PM

Museum: 10 AM to 5 PM

The Plenty Coups Museum was constructed in 1972 to replace a museum operated out of the log home.

A museum display reflects Plenty Coups room of Honor in the log home. Traditionally, a man's objects of honor were kept in the back center of his tipi lodge. To fulfill his visions of leading the Apsaalooke people to accept change he established traditional practices in the modern home.

Another museum display reflects the Chief's accomplishments as the Chief of all Chiefs and a national leader.
