"Old Herd' Photo Album |
| "Old Herd" Beautiful Leather Bound Photo Album with 15 (8X10) color images of Chief Ollokot's Appaloosa descendants will be a family heirloom for you. Photos were taken at Winchester, Idaho, in 1994 on Nez Perce Tribal Lands by Nez Perce photographer, Stan Hoggatt. The "Old Herd" descendants belonged to Chief Ollokot, who was Young Joseph's brother. Ollokot was unable to gather his horses in time to move them onto the Nez Perce Reservation at Lapwai, Idaho, from the Wallowa Mountain pastures as ordered by General Howard. Ollokot entrusted the horses that could not be found to a white rancher who had settled in the Wallowas. Ollokot was killed at the Bears Paw Battle and never returned. The rancher's family members gave Chief Ollokot's descendant horses back to Irvin Waters in the 1980's. Irvin Waters was a descendant of Chief Ollokot. The horses are now cared for by John and Rosa Yearout. $ 150 from each sale is donated to the Alex Cross Memorial Scholarship Foundation. | 675 | Qty |
